Best XI of Asia Cup: The Asia Cup 2022 recently concluded and everyone would agree that it was the most exciting edition so far. Played in the shortest format, almost every game went down to the wire and fans witnessed exciting battles between bat and ball throughout the tournament. A total of six teams participated and Sri Lanka were crowned the winner after beating Pakistan in the final.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosted this edition of the Asia Cup. We saw some brilliant individual performances throughout the tournament. We saw well-balanced units go head-to-head in this edition of the Asia Cup and as a result, we witnessed some nail-biting contests. Now that the competition is over, it is a good time to choose the team of the tournament.

1) Mohammad Rizwan (wk)

Mohammad Rizwan starred for Pakistan in every game and finished as the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2022. He amassed 281 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 56.20. He was the mainstay of Pakistanโ€™s batting lineup. Rizwan also scored a fighting fifty in the final against Sri Lanka. He has been performing brilliantly in the shortest format in recent times and yet again he delivered for his national side.

2) Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis was phenomenal in the Asia Cup 2022 for Sri Lanka. He gave his side some solid starts and helped lay a platform for a strong finish. He scored 155 runs in six games and was instrumental in helping his side lift the trophy. The wicket-keeper batter smashed two half-centuries in the competition. Mendis will look to keep performing for his side in the near future.

3) Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli arrived at the Asia Cup on the back of poor returns at the top level. He took a break away from the game and it paid rich dividends for him as we saw the King get back in his groove. Kohli finished as the second highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup, having scored 276 runs in five matches. It included a fantastic century against Afghanistan, his first in the T20Is. However, he couldnโ€™t help his side reach the final.

4) Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been a revelation since making his debut for the national side in the shortest format. His ability to hit the ball in all directions makes him a dangerous batter to bowl to for any bowler and he displayed his skills in his blistering knock of 68* off just 26 balls against Hong Kong, which comprised 6 fours and as many sixes. He along with Kohli will form a formidable middle order for the Indian side in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

5) Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Bhanuka Rajapaksa is underrated but he proved his worth for his side in the Asia Cup 2022. Coming in the middle order, he played some fantastic knocks and rescued his team from precarious situations. His knock of 71* off 45 balls in the final was one of the best knocks in the final of any T20 competitions which helped his side post a good total on the board which they eventually defended to lift the title. He finished with 191 runs at an average of 47.75 and is a vital cog in the Lankan batting lineup.

6) Dasun Shanaka (c)

Best XI of Asia Cup Captain and Leading the team of the tournament with winning attitude. Dasun Shanaka stepped up and led this side to the title in the Asia Cup 2022. His strike rate throughout the tournament was 138.75. His cameos against Bangladesh and India helped them get across the line in close-fought encounters. He impressed everyone with his captaincy skills and is a perfect candidate to lead the team of the tournament.

7) Mohammad Nawaz

The Indian fans wonโ€™t forget Mohammad Nawaz as the southpaw played a brutal knock of 42* off 20 balls in their super four fixture against India to help his side chase down 182 with one ball to spare. To go along with his batting, Nawaz was impressive with his bowling, having picked up eight wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 5.89.

8) Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga was named the player of the series for his all-round show in the Asia Cup 2022. He picked up nine wickets in six matches and scored 66 runs at a strike rate of 150. His cameo of 36 in the final against Pakistan helped his side post a good total on the board. He grabbed three wickets with the ball to help his side lift their sixth title.

9) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was lethal with the new ball, swinging both ways and troubling the batters. He didnโ€™t bowl as expected in the death overs but made sure that India had the best of the starts with the ball. He picked up 11 wickets in five matches at an average of 10.45. His figures against Afghanistan were 5/4 and will look to lead the pace bowling attack in the showpiece event later this year.

10) Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah grabbed everyoneโ€™s attention with his two back-to-back sixes against Afghanistan to help his side secure a place in the final. With 11 required from the last over, he smashed two sixes to seal the deal. Shah was good with the ball with his extra pace, yielding him seven wickets in five games. He will play a vital role for Pakistan alongside Shaheen Afridi.

11) Dilshan Madushanka

The left-arm seamer from Sri Lanka impressed everyone with his new ball skills. He troubled the top-order batters of the opposition and picked up six wickets in six games. The 21-year-old has plenty of time ahead of his career and will for sure make an impact in white-ball cricket. He was impressive for Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 and has a bright future ahead of him.
