CPL 2022: Defending champions St Kitts and Nevis Patriots register their first win of the tournament
Patriots register their first win: Guyana Amazon Warriors faced St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 10th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022. Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet in Saint Lucia hosted this exciting contest where the Patriots defeated the Warriors.
Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper Shimron Hetmyer won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost Paul Stirling early in the innings but Chandrapaul Hemraj along with Shai Hope steadied the ship Both put 69 for the second wicket before Hemraj departed on 43. Hope fell in the very next over on 20. Hetmyer walked in at four and played a very good knock.
He lacked support from the other end but he hit some lusty blows and scored 46 off just 21 balls. His innings helped the Warriors post 162 on the board, losing six wickets. Duan Jansen and Akila Dananjaya picked up two wickets each for the Patriots.
The Patriots’ chase was led by Andre Fletcher. Opening the batting, he hit some fantastic strokes and took on the bowling from the word go. They were 46/1 at the end of the powerplay. Fletcher fell on 41 and they lost their way a bit in the chase.
With 55 required in the last five overs, Dwaine Pretorius along with Duan Jansen hit some lusty blows and kept the Patriots in the chase. With 22 required from the last over, Pretorius hit three sixes to take the Patriots across the line with two balls to spare. Both Pretorius and Jansen remained unbeaten on 27 and 23 respectively to help them grab their first win of the CPL 2022.
Guyana Amazon Warriors yet to win a game in the CPL 2022
Guyana Amazon Warriors lost to Jamaica Tallawahs in their opening game of the CPL 2022. Their next fixture against the Patriots was washed out due to rain. They again faced the Patriots but failed to hold they seize the crunch moments as they remain winless in this year’s competition. They will hope to register their first win of this year’s CPL when they take the field against the Kings on Saturday.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, meanwhile, got off to a worst possible start to this year’s competition. They lost their first two games and their next two games were washed out due to rain. They held their nerves against the Warriors in their next game to grab their first win of the CPL 2022. They will hope to carry forward the winning momentum.

Duan Jansen was named the Player of the Match award for all-round show for the Patriots helps to register their first win.
