Barbados Royals were asked to bat first by the Warriors. The Royals’ openers in Rahkeem Cornwall and skipper Kyle Mayers got them off to a solid start. Cornwall struggled with timing upfront but once he settled, he took on the bowling and hit sixes for fun. The pair put 55 between them at the end of the powerplay.
Mayers departed on 26 in the seventh over. Harry Tector returned to the hut without troubling the scorers but there was no stopping Cornwall. He teed off in the middle overs and cleared the fence with ease. He was well-supported by Azam Khan from the other end. The 90-run stand was broken when Cornwall fell nine short of his ton. He hit 2 fours and 11 huge sixes. Azam Khan brought up his fifty off just 34 balls to power his side to 195/5. Romario Shepherd finished with figures of 2/29 in his four overs but the other bowlers went on a journey.
Chasing a mammoth total, the Warriors had the worst start, losing in-form Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the very first over. The Royals’ bowlers bowled beautifully and picked three more wickets to reduce the Warriors to 36/4 at the end of the powerplay. The Warriors couldn’t recover from the collapse as they never got going.
The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shimron Hetmyer stood tall against the Royals but lacked support from the other end. He scored 37 but a flurry of wickets from the other end resulted in them getting knocked over on 108, losing the game by 87 runs. Ramon Simmonds picked up three wickets for the Royals. Cornwall and Mujeeb Ur Rahman also chipped in with a couple of scalps each to help their side qualify for the final.

Player of the Match
Rahkeem Cornwall grabbed the Player of the Match award for his scintillating knock of 91 off just 54 balls to go with his two wickets. Barbados Royals into the final!
At the start, we wanted to give ourselves a chance to see how the pitch was going, we could always make up. I had my eye on the century, but happy with the 91 to put my team in a good position. I still back myself with the ball, I am in the team as an all-rounder.
– Rahkeem Cornwall
We mentioned it earlier that our team is a great team. We just had one bad game, but we came out today and did well. Much needed extra days rest. The guys have been working hard, but we can now rest and come back for the finals.
– Kyle Mayers, Barbados Royals Skipper
