After being asked to bat first, the Tallawahs got off to a shay start. Both their openers departed on 19 each and lost three wickets inside the powerplay with 47 on the board. Raymon Reifer walked in at five and held the innings nicely from one end.

He was supported by Imad Wasim (20) from the other end. Reifer brought up his half-century and looked good. He hit 4 fours and as many sixes in his knock of 62 before departing in the penultimate over. His innings helped the Tallwahs post 163 on the board. The Kings picked up eight wickets in total, with Scott Kuggeleijn finishing with three.

The Saint Lucia Kings didn’t have the best of starts to the chase as they reeled at 38/3 at the end of the fielding restrictions. Johnson Charles opening the batting looked good but needed support from the other end. Tim David provided it and started building a partnership for the fifth wicket.

Charles played some wonderful strokes and raced to his fifty in no time. He was dismissed on 62 off 39 balls in the 15th over. Contributions from the lower-order batters David (20), Roshon Primus 22), and David Wiese (20*) helped them chase down the total with one ball to spare. The Tallawahs’ bowlers tried hard and did pick eight wickets in total but failed to hold their nerves in the final moments of the game to lose game.

Player of the Match

Johnson Charles was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 62 at the top of the order for Saint Lucia Kings

I feel great. Feels good to register your first win. As much as I wanted to go hard, we were losing wickets. So we have to build partnerships. Bowlers study batters and try to work on our weaknesses. Feels lovely to have this sort of support from the home crowd.

– Johnson Charles

Huge win, especially when you handle pressure and get over the line. At the halfway stage we felt if we had wickets in hand it will be difficult to end for them with the wet ball.

– Faf du Plessis, Saint Lucia Kings Skipper
