Barbados Royals kick start their campaign with a win

Barbados Royals kick start
The third game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 saw St Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on Barbados Royals at Warner Park in Basseterre in St Kitts. It was a rain-curtailed fixture and the Royals get off with a win. Barbados Royals kick start with positive attitude!
Due to rain, the game was reduced to 17 overs per side. After being asked to bat first, the Patriots got off to a very good start, thanks to Andre Fletcher who took on the bowling from the word go. He looked solid but lacked support from the other end. The batters faltered as it was a one man show from the ‘Spiceman’
Fletcher scored 81 but a collapse from the other end resulted in them only managing to score 149 at the end of their innings, for the loss of eight wickets. Jason Holder and Ramon Simmonds picked up two wickets each for the Royals.
Chasing 150, the Royals got off to a flying start. They scored 55 at the end of the powerplay of five overs. Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers teed off against the new ball and put 64 between them. Cornwall departed on 39 but there was no stopping Mayers.
Mayers brought up his fifty and took his side closer to the target. He was dismissed on 73 and the Royals lost another but Azam Khan and David Miller remained unbeaten to take their side across the line with 11 balls to spare. Dwayne Bravo finished with two wickets for the Patriots.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lose their second consecutive game in the CPL 2022
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have gotten off to a poor start. They have played two games so far and lost both. They have dropped too many catches in both games and it has costed them heavily. Bravo will be hoping for his teammates to step up and bring out their A-game to register their first win of the CPL 2022.
Barbados Royals, meanwhile, completed a dominant win over the defending champions to kick start the competition on a winning note. They look a settled unit and the experienced players have stepped up to contribute to their win against the Patriots. They will hope to carry forward the winning momentum.
Player of the Match
Corbin Bosch is named the player of the match for his record-breaking five catches in an innings which helps Barbados Royals kick start their campaign with a comprehensive Victory.
Feels fantastic. Great performance from the team today and feels good to be part of it. (On the CPL record of 5 catches in an innings) I was just at the right place at the right time and felt good to contribute to the team.
– Corbin Bosch
Feels nice. I thought the bowlers bowled really well. Pulled it back well at the end. Batting from the openers, especially Mayers was really impressive. It is a long tournament, games come thick and fast. Starting well is important, couldn’t have asked for anything better.
– David Miller, Barbados Royals Skipper
