CSK IPL 2025
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially announced their player retentions for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season ahead of the highly anticipated IPL mega auction. With the retention window closing on October 31, 2024, CSK has strategically held onto some of their key players, ensuring a strong core for the upcoming season.
CSK Player Retention List for IPL 2025:
- Ruturaj Gaikwad: The new captain of CSK, Gaikwad has been one of the most consistent performers for the team in recent years. His leadership and batting skills are expected to drive CSK forward in IPL 2025.
- Ravindra Jadeja: A pivotal all-rounder for both CSK and India, Jadeja continues to be a vital asset with both bat and ball. His experience and fielding prowess make him irreplaceable in the squad.
- Matheesha Pathirana: Known for his deadly yorkers and pace, the Sri Lankan pacer is a capped player who has been retained as part of CSK’s bowling strength.
- Shivam Dube: The hard-hitting all-rounder, Dube has been retained for his big-hitting abilities and occasional handy contributions with the ball.
- MS Dhoni: Even though Dhoni is now considered an uncapped player, his presence in the CSK setup remains iconic. The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman is likely to play a crucial mentorship role as the team transitions under new leadership.
Total Retention Cost and Auction Strategy:
CSK’s retention list has cost the team ₹65 crore, leaving them with a significant purse for the upcoming IPL 2025 auction. Notably, CSK still holds one Right to Match (RTM) card, which will allow them to reclaim a former player by matching the highest bid made by another franchise during the auction.
Key Dates:
The IPL 2025 auction is set to take place on November 24 and 25, 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking the second time the auction has been held outside of India. All 10 IPL franchises have retained a total of 46 players across the league, with a combined investment of INR 558.5 crore.
