Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-Test matches for the away series against South Africa because of an injury. There is no immediate decision on who will be the vice-captain of Indian Side as recently announced Rohit as a Test Vice Captain for the Indian Team by BCCI after replacing Rahane. Now Rohit is the Vice Captain for Test Team and Captain for the ODI and T20I.
Rohit injury is unfortunate that this is going to be the first overseas after took over the responsibility for Rohit as a Captain and Vice Captain for ODI and Test respectively.
According to CricBuzz.com – An announcement to this effect is expected to be made by the BCCI soon but Cricbuzz can confirm that Rohit, who was kept out of the just-concluded two-Test series against New Zealand as part of workload management, will not take part in the Test series that starts on December 26. The team is scheduled to leave for South Africa on December 16.
“It has come to light that Rohit, who was practising at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai for the last one week, suffered an injury during one of those practice sessions. It is still not clear if he will be available for the three-match ODI series, for which he was named captain but it can be confirmed that the injury is quite serious in nature.”
“Rohit complained of discomfort to the support staff at the practice session itself on Sunday when he spoke about the limited-overs captaincy in an interview to bcci.tv. Understandably, tests were done on Monday by the physios when the serious nature of the injury came to light.”
