BPH Vs TRT: The 15th match of the Men’s Hundred 2022 saw the Birmingham Phoenix take on the Trent Rockets at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. A solid performance saw the Phoenix side defeat the Rockets comprehensively in front of their home crowd.

Birmingham Phoenix skipper Moeen Ali won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision paid off as they blew away the Rockets’ top-order in no time. None of the Rockets’ batters got going, as they were reeling at 53/6 at the end of 54 balls.
Skipper Lewis Gregory was joined by Daniel Sams and both started to resurrect the innings. Sams brought up his fifty in no time and Gregory played the role of a second fiddle to perfection. Both Sams and Gregory remained unbeaten 55 and 35 respectively to help their side post 145 on the board. Benny Howell of Phoenix picked up three wickets with the ball, as they picked up six wickets in total.

Phoenix had a shaky start to their chase, losing Will Smeed early in the innings. Miles Hammond and Moeen Ali led the recovery work before the former falling on 20. Liam Livingstone joined his skipper and put up a solid stand for the third wicket. Both brought up their respective fifties as they ensured there were no more hiccups in the chase. Ali was dismissed on 52 but not before giving his side a solid platform.

Matthew Wade along with Livingstone guided their side across the line with 14 balls to spare, with Livingstone remaining unbeaten on 51 of 32 balls. He hit four huge sixes in his knock. Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers for the Rockets, picking up three wickets but the other bowlers failed to step up as they lost the game by seven wickets.

An all-around performance from Birmingham Phoenix sees them jump to the third spot in the points table of this edition of the Hundred. They lost their opening game against the Trent Rockets but have turned the tables around as they have now won three games on the trot. They have six points to their name and look a solid side.
Trent Rockets sit below Birmingham Phoenix in the points table with six points. They had won three consecutive games coming at Edgbaston but failed to carry the winning momentum forward as they lost to the Phoenix side on Monday. They will now look to get back to winning ways in their next fixture against the Oval Invincibles.
