CSK will likely hold Dhoni for three seasons, and is set to lead Pant Capitals. According to The Indian Express, Chennai will retain Dhoni for several more seasons, but as pointed out by MS Dhoni, he may only play in the 15th season of the IPL. Fans are starting to feel that he may be retiring from CSK this season. IPL 2022 could be his last T20 match as a hitter and captain. CSK fans would like to see MS Dhoni as part of the CSK family going forward even if he retires from the IPL as a Captain / batter / Wicket Keeper.

As per the latest reports around IPL 2022 retention, CSK have retained their legendary skipper, MS Dhoni, for the next three years. Ahead of the mega auction, defending Champions Chennai Super Kings have decided to retain their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for next three seasons.

Chennai Super Kings are likely to retain their longstanding captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the next three Indian Premier League seasons.

Apart from MS Dhoni, the franchise is also set to retain all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played crucial roles as CSK won the 2021 IPL title.

As per BCCI rules for IPL 15th Edition, each team is allowed to retain a maximum of only four players. CSK is also in talks with England all-rounder ‘Moeen Ali‘ to come on board. As BCCI secretary Jay Shah had stated that the next season of IPL will be played in India for sure, CSK feel Ali could be a handy player on the slow, turning Chennai wicket.

If Ali doesn’t agree to stay, CSK will have left-arm medium-pacer Sam Curran as their fourth retained player.
The franchises have to submit their lists of retained players by November 30 and the IPL will have its mega auction next month. CSK retaining Dhoni wouldn’t come as a surprise, especially with the brand value he brings to the team. At a recent CSK event, Dhoni had confirmed that his last T20 game will be in Chennai, putting his IPL retirement speculations to bed.

MS Dhoni Last T20 Match will be in Chennai Stadium

“I have always planned my cricket. My last ODI in India was in Ranchi. Hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in five years’ time, I don’t know,” Dhoni had said.

Sadly, Raina may miss his spot in the upcoming season of IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Raina is called as “Chinna Thala” of CSK.

Players retained by CSK for IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings will retain their trustworthy and most favourite player of All time to Whistle podu: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali/Sam Curran.
