The highly anticipated 16th edition of the IPL cricket series is set to take place in India this year, running from March 31st to May 28th. Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament, which will kick off with a thrilling match between the Chennai Super Kings and the defending champions, Gujarat Titans. The excitement surrounding this opening match is palpable, with fans eagerly anticipating the clash between these two formidable teams.
The Rajasthan Royals, who emerged victorious in the inaugural season of the IPL series, have not been able to clinch the trophy since then. However, in the previous season, they made it to the final but lost to the Gujarat team. This year, they are showing a strong inclination towards winning the trophy for the second time. The Rajasthan team already boasts of a talented squad, but they are currently in the process of adding more players to further strengthen their team.
The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals team has recently signed Sandeep Sharma as a replacement for the young and talented fast bowler, Prasith Krishna, who unfortunately suffered an injury. The absence of Prasith Krishna, who is known for his impressive speed of 140 kmph, has undoubtedly dealt a setback to the team.
Sandeep Sharma has been selected as a replacement for the team. He not only possesses good experience in IPL cricket but also excels in bowling during powerplay overs. As a result, his inclusion is viewed as a significant asset for the team.
Last season, Sandeep Sharma played for Punjab but was released by the team prior to the mini-auction this season. Despite registering his name in the mini-auction at a base price of Rs 50 lakh, no team purchased him. This left Sandeep feeling disappointed and he openly expressed his apprehension about not being trusted by any team despite his years of experience playing cricket. It is unfortunate that such a talented player was not given the opportunity to showcase his skills on the field.
The situation has taken a turn for the better for him as Rajasthan Royals have acquired him as a substitute. It is worth mentioning that he boasts an impressive record of 104 matches played in the IPL, with 114 wickets taken.
