In a stunning display of power-packed cricket, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made history by achieving the fastest 200+ run chase in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a match held in Ahmedabad on April 28, 2024, RCB faced off against Gujarat, with the latter setting an imposing target of 201 runs. The chase began with FAF du Plessis scoring a quickfire 24 off 12 balls. However, the real showstopper was yet to come.

Captain Virat Kohli and the dynamic Will Jacks took to the field determined to overhaul the target. Kohli’s unbeaten 70 runs off 44 balls provided the much-needed stability, but it was Will Jacks scintillating century that turned the tide decisively in RCB favor. Jacks explosive 100* off just 41 balls left the Gujarat bowlers in chaos and propelled RCB to a memorable victory.

RCB reached the target of 201 runs in just 16 overs, registering their third win of the IPL 2024 season with a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Gujarat. This victory not only keeps RCB playoff hopes alive but also etches their name in the IPL history books.

With this stunning chase, RCB surpassed Mumbai Indians record of the fastest 200+ run chase in IPL history. Mumbai had achieved the feat in the 2023 season against RCB at the Wankhede Cricket Ground, but RCB record-breaking performance now stands as the new benchmark.

Virat Kohli, not just a captain but also a record-breaker, set multiple milestones during this match. With his 70-run knock, Kohli has now scored more than 50 runs in chasing matches 24 times in the IPL series, surpassing the previous record held by Shikhar Dhawan, who achieved this feat 23 times.

Furthermore, with this innings, Kohli also reached the milestone of 500 runs in the 2024 IPL series. This is the seventh time he has scored more than 500 runs in an IPL season, a feat previously achieved only by David Warner. Kohli achievement now puts him on par with Warner in the IPL record books.

The RCB camp is buzzing with excitement after this remarkable victory, and with Kohli form on the rise, they are a team to watch out for as the IPL 2024 season progresses.
