Lucknow Super Giants unveiled as new name for IPL franchise Lucknow

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are a franchise IPL cricket team based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. They will play from 2022 in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Lucknow Team unveiled their New Name ‘Lucknow Super Giants’ on Monday.

Lucknow Super Giants: That is the team name unveiled on Monday by the new IPL franchise bought by the RP Sanjiv Goenka group for a record sum of INR 7090 crore in October last year.

The Owner of Lucknow Super Giants, announced that KL Rahul would be the captain of the new franchise. The Lucknow Super Giants also acquired Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. Andy Flower has been named the head coach of the Lucknow franchise and former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been named the mentor.

Lucknow IPL Team Name Suggestion

Lucknow IPL team created all the hype just to name the team Super Giants. Why did they gone to the public with multiple names suggestion where they did not list this name as option. They simply took it from the previous IPL team Rising Pune SuperGiants. The official IPL team of Lucknow asked fans to suggest names for the new franchise. The name of the RPSG Group-owned IPL team was revealed by Sanjiv Goenka on Monday. Lucknow Super Giants signed KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi for the team last week.

IPL 2022 is expected to start on March 27 or April 02, with the authorities keen that the tournament be hosted in India itself, although that could change depending on the Covid-19 pandemic either to UAE or to South Africa as a back up plan they held for IPL 2022 season.
