King Kohli’s performance against Pakistan: In the second game of the 2022 Asia Cup’s Super 4 round which was played yesterday, September 4. India bowling first, scored 181/7 against Pakistan in the allotted 20 overs. While openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were both dismissed for 28 runs, the main batsmen in the middle order including Suryakumar Yadav (13), Rishabh Pant (14), and Hardik Pandya (0), were all dismissed for a few runs.

Deepak Hooda was dismissed for 14 runs in that situation, but Virat Kohli, India’s star of hope scored 60 runs (44) with four fours and one six in the final over. Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam (14) and Baqar Zaman (15) were the main players who got out for a few runs early in the chase causing a setback.

Defeated and lost

However, a 73-run partnership for the 3rd wicket ensured victory as Mohammad Nawaz made 42 (20) with 6 fours and 2 sixes and opener Mohammad Rizwan scored 71 (51) in subsequent overs. The Indian bowlers failed to take advantage of the breakthrough and the Pakistani players who came at the last minute, Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali scored 14* (11) and Asif Ali 16 (8) to finish.

So, Pakistan scored 182/5 in 19.5 overs and won by 5 wickets to avenge India’s defeat in the league round. India on the other hand bowed their heads after failing at the last moment in both batting and bowling and will only be able to advance to the finals if they win their remaining matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

Virat in top form

India lost this game in all three categories with poor batting by key players like Rohit Sharma overshadowing poor bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and a catch by Arshideep Singh. However, Virat Kohli who entered the batting field in the sixth over, once again transformed into a lion’s nightmare against Pakistan and remained the anchor until the final over hitting 60 (44) runs with 4 fours and 1 six at a respectable strike rate of 136.36.

Virat took a month off after receiving daily criticism for failing to score a hundred after 2019 and is now playing sharply in this series. He was criticized for batting slowly in the first game where he scored 35 runs with the help of luck. Despite scoring 59* (44) runs against Hong Kong, he was again criticized for his batting.

Virat surpassed Rohit Sharma

King Kohli’s performance against Pakistan was in Peak and his great average against Pakistan continous. Virat performed flawlessly to keep India on their toes in the match against Pakistan, who bowled well yesterday. When you observe his batting, where he hit a six and reached a half-century, it appears that he has almost fully recovered from his previous form. And by scoring 60 runs in this game, he has now surpassed Rohit Sharma’s previous record of 50+ runs in an international T20 cricket match. Look at the stats of Kohli’s T20I Career.
