Harmanpreet Kaur – It’s a special day for all of us, want to enjoy this moment. This is a good wicket to bat on, but there will be something in it for the bowlers as well. We have some young players who’ll be featuring today and we’re looking forward to seeing how they play.
Beth Mooney – We will bowl. Looks pretty even with the grass, it’s a hard and flat surface, plenty of runs here. Absolutely thrilled to be part of (WPL), a big crowd and I’m loving it. We have an entertaining group, we speak a lot about cricket. We have had the experience of playing in front of a big crowd, we can pass it on to the younger members. Three seamers and four spinners in our playing XI today, looking at taking some early wickets.
Sneh Rana | Gujarat Giants: We are all very excited, we had been waiting for the WPL eagerly and it is finally happening, so we are very excited. (On her family) They are also very excited, our team is going to play the inaugural match, so they all are also eagerly waiting for it. We all are well prepared, we have gelled up well although we got only one practice session together. All the teams are strong, the viewers are also eagerly waiting for the first game, so let’s hope it happens to be a really good tournament. All the people watching this game, I request you all to keep supporting us the same way, so that women’s cricket goes up to more heights.
Amelia Kerr | Mumbai Indians: We are all very excited to have a women’s premier league now, it is amazing for the game and for women’s sport. This atmosphere already seems amazing, it’s sold out. It’s incredible, most of all it is an incredible occasion for women’s sport. So, leading into this, we have been working hard, getting to know each other, just excited to get out there and express ourselves. Watching the men’s premier league growing up, and wanting to play in it one day, to be here now, I am extremely grateful. It is going to be an amazing tournament and I think it is about soaking it all up and enjoying each moment. I have been to India only once before for not a very long time, so it is awesome to be back. I will absolutely love my time, I know how passionate they are about their cricket. Excited to play in different conditions and with a country that loves their cricket and the crowd that gets right into it. And to be here in Mumbai and playing for the Mumbai Indians, you can’t ask for much more. The auction was a bit different. No one really knew what to expect, we haven’t experienced something like that before. We were playing that day against South Africa. You feel happy and you also feel sad for some of your teammates. But I think, from an outside perspective, seeing that for women’s cricket is something very cool. It is very exciting to see how much women’s cricket is growing around the world.

Post Match Presantasion
Sciver-Brunt – The crowd was incredible in the first half, they got tired in the second half. A bit of an occasion, it is exciting, it is a big thing for women’s cricket. That’s the best thing about playing in different conditions, you learn a lot of things. Saika is the most exicting person after she takes a wicket. There is a lot of local talent and that is exciting. It is very good to be in the same team. (On Harmanpreet) She is incredible, she looks so calm on the crease, she played brilliantly today.
Nita Ambani Owner, Mumbai Indians – Iconic day, iconic moment for women in sport, just happy to be part of the WPL. I love every moment, want girls in the country to take up sports, live their dreams and make a career of it. MI is known for its fearless and exciting cricket, the girls have performed so well and I’m really proud. Special mention to Harman, she played a special innings, Amelia Kerr was fabulous, batted and bowled well, enjoyed every moment today. Wonderful to see so much support, great to see men and women come to the ground to support women’s cricket. All the best for all the teams in this tournament.
