LPL 2022: JSK VS DHG, Dambulla Giants and Jaffna Kings

Dambulla Giants are all set to take on the defending champions Jaffna Kings in the 8th match of the Lanka Premier League. Jaffna won the first two matches but lost to Kandy Falcons in the last match by 3 wickets. The Giants are yet to register a victory in this season. They have faced two defeats in two matches. Their net run rate is also very poor.

Jaffna Kings- The team has performed brilliantly in the three matches of the tournament and they are favourites to win this match as well. The bowling has been phenomenal. They not only defended 137 against Galle in the first match, but also restricted Dambulla for 121 in second and nearly pulled off a shocker against Kandy in the third match.

Avishka Fernando and Sadira Samarawickrama are the only players to score the fifty for the side. De Silva and Shoaib Malik have also stepped up with the bat. Dunith Wellalage has been brilliant with the ball and bat. Maheeesh Theekshana, James Fuller and Vijayakanth’s trio picked up wickets regularly and kept scoring rate down.

Dambulla Giants- The Giants have big names like Sikandar Raza, Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, but they have disappointed with their performance. The team lost both the matches in LPL 2022. They failed to perform as a unit. Jordon Cox played a beautiful innings in the first match but others failed to deliver. Van Meekeren have to step up with the bat and ball. Tom Abell would like to continue his form.

The bowlers have to do better, Lahiru although picked four wickets but he turned out to be the most expensive one.
