In this artictle, we will have a look at three pacers who can make it to Team India’s World Cup Squad to fill Jasprit Bumrah’s shoes – Who can Replace Jasprit Bumrah?
Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar could turn out to be a great replacement for Jaspreet Bumrah. The right arm fast bowler also suffered an injury and was out of the team for long but he made comeback last month. He was kept in stand by for T20 World Cup.
He picked up two wickets at an economy of just 6.00 against South Africa in the first T20 International match between both the teams. He also have the ability to bat down the order which could turn out to be a bonus for India.
Keeping the Australian pitches and Chahar’s ability to swing the ball, he can indeed be the top contender to replace Jaspreet Bumrah.
Mohammad Shami
The last few weeks have not been good for India’s veteran fast bowler Shami. He was dropped from the T20 squad after the last T20 World Cup. He was then not selected in the 15 -member team for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. He was kept in standby. Shami was included in the team for the T20 series against Australia, but he became infected by COVID positive just before the series which made him to miss the series.
For this reason, he was also dropped out of the current series against South Africa. Now after the exclusion of an experienced bowler like Bumrah, Team India may need Shami’s experience. In the true sense, he is a kind of player who would be the right replacement of Bumrah. However, Shami’s performance in the last T20 World Cup was disappointing and he just took six wickets in five matches. Also, he has not played any T20 International match in last one year.
Mohammad Siraj
As per Cricbuzz, Mohammed Siraj is likely to take Bumrah’s place. Mohammad Siraj recently played in the County Cricket in England and performed brilliantly. He has played in Australian conditions in 2020 where his performance was excellent , hence his ability to swing and experience of bowling in Australian conditions might influence the selectors to pick him.
He has mostly played Test and ODI cricket so far, talking about T20 cricket he has just played 5 matches and picked up 5 wickets at an economy of 10+. Mohammad Siraj is also trending on twitter after the exclusion of Jaspreet Bumrah. Though, his performance in T20I is not up to the mark, but still indian cricket fans are demanding his inclusion in the World Cup squad .
