Netherlands Knocks Zimbabwe Out Of T20 World Cup 2022

Netherlands Knocks Zimbabwe: Netherlands ends the hope of Zimbabwe of qualifying into the semifinals of T20 World Cup 2022 by defeating them by 5 wickets. This was also the first win for Netherlands in the super 12 stage. Zimbabwe scored 117 runs, which Netherlands chased down in just 18 overs.

First Innings
Batting first, Zimbabwe got off a poor start, their top 3 were dismissed for just 20 runs. Van Meekeren bowled Madhevere (1 run), Brandon Grover dismissed Craig Ervine (3 runs) & Chakabva (5 runs). Zimbabwe batsman failed to face the accurate fast bowling and fell to clever change in variations.
Sikandar Raza comes to rescue
Sikandar Raza stood tall against the Netherlands and scored crucial runs for the team. He quickfired 40 off 24 deliveries with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. He added 48-run partnership with Sean William (28 runs). However the lower order could not do much, Zimbabwe lost their last five wickets for just 25 runs.They posted 117 runs on the board. Van Meekeren got three wickets while Glover, Leede and Beek got two wickets each.
Second Innings
Netherlands also lost Stephan Myburgh in the fourth over, when the team score was just 17. But Max O’Dowd and Tom Copper put up a 77-run partnership stand to take the game away from the Zimbabwe. Max completed his second half century of the tournament. Copper fell for 32 runs and Zimbabwe tried to come back by taking 4 wickets for 26 runs after Cooper’s dismissal. However 117 was not enough to defend, Netherlands chased down with 12 balls to spare.
Player of the Match
Max O’Dowd was chosen as the player of the match for his brilliant half-century. He scored 52 runs in 47 balls.
