First Innings
Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sri Lanka got off the rough start and in form batsman Kusal Mendis got dismissed for just 5 runs in the very second over by Pat Cummins. However Pathum Nishanka and Da Silva (26 runs in 23 balls) then shared 69 runs for the second wicket. Nishanka played a slow but handy innings of 40 runs in 45 balls.
Asalanka takes Sri Lanka to respectable total
While other batsman were finding it hard to stay on the crease and score some runs, Asalanka scored unbeaten 38 runs in 25 balls with the help of 2 sixes. Karunarthe also scored unbeaten 14 important runs in 7 balls to help Sri Lanka post 157 runs in 20 overs. Except Stoinis and Marsh, all the Australian bowlers shared one wicket each.
Second Innings
Chasing 158, Australia lost David Warner in the fourth over. He made 11 runs and was dismissed by Theekshana. Australia was struggling in the match at one point but, unbeaten innings from the skipper Finch and Stoinis helped them to recover well and win the match. Finch scored an unbeaten 31 off 42 balls and Stoinis scored 59 off 18 balls. He completed his half -century in 17 balls. His innings included six sixes and four fours. Australia achieved this target by losing three wickets in 16.3 overs.

Marcus Stoinis broke down the David Record of scoring fastest T20I half century for Australia. He scored half century in just 17 balls, while Warner completed the half century in 18 balls.
