England win the game by beating New Zealand by 20 runs and stay alive in the T20 World Cup 2022: England has defeated New Zealand by 20-run victory in the 33rd match of T20 World Cup 2022. This match was played at The Gabba, Brisbane. Jos Butler’s captain knock helped England post huge total of 179/6 in 20 overs. New Zealand could only manage to score 159/6 in 20 overs.

England won the toss and elected to bat first. Jos Butler got England off a solid start, adding 81 runs with partner Alex Hales, who was stumped on 52 (40). Ish Sodhi dismissed Moen Ali for 5 runs, Livingston contributed 20 runs. Other batsman could not even reach double digits, but from the other end, skipper Butler was doing the damage. Ish Sodhi proved beneficial for New Zealand with the ball with figures 4-0-23-1.
Mangificant Jos Butler smashed 73 runs in just 47 deliveries to power England to 179 runs. With this innings, he has become the highest run scorer (2468 runs) for England in men’s T20Is. It was also his 100th T20I match for England which he celebrated with 35-balls fifty.
Chris Woakes gave England a brilliant start with the ball dismissing Devon Conway
(3 runs) in the very second over. In the fifth over, Finn Allen was caught off by Ben Stokes at 16 runs. Although Williamson and Glenn Phillips scored 91 runs, but Williamson (40 off 40 balls) was sent back to pavillion by Ben Stokes.
Phillips could not take New Zealand to a win
Glenn Phillips tried his best scoring 62 off just 36 deliveries with the help of 3 sixes. When he got out, the team’s score was 135/6, meaning he had done the bulk of the scoring. Mitchell and Santner fallen cheaply. New Zealand fell short by 20 runs. Sam Curran and Chris Woakes dismissed two batsman each.

New Zealand is still on the top in Group A followed by England and Australia. New Run rate is healthy, all they need an any margin win against Ireland in their last group match. Australia need a big win against Afganistan and also pray that Sri Lanka defeats England.
