T20 World Cup 2022 is full of thrill and drama, yet another day and the world witnessed another major upset as Historic Win For Zimbabwe vs Pakistan. This time Zimbabwe defeated strong Pakistan team by just one run. Kudos to Shikandar Raja all-rounder performance, with this win Zimbabwe moves to the 3rd spot in the points table.

First Innings

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the toss and elected to bat first. Madhevere along with Ervine put on a 42-run partnership for first wicket. Haris Rauf ended this partnership when Ervine (19 runs) was caught by Mohammad Wasim on the short fine leg. Two balls later, Madhevere (17 runs) also got out on Wasim’s ball. Shadab dismissed Milton Shumba for 8 runs.

After this Sean William (31 runs in 28 balls) & Sikandar Raza (9 runs) tried to handle the batting for Zimbabwe by adding 31 runs for the fourth wicket. But Shadab pushed the Zimbabwe on the backfoot by dismissing two batsman in the 14th over. In the end, Ryan Burl (10 unbeaten runs in 15 balls) and Brad Evans (19 runs in 15 balls) made useful contribution to help Zimbabwe post 130 runs on the board. Mohd Wasim Jr. got four wickets while Shadab got three.

Zimbabwe produced a masterpiece with the ball in the second innings. World number 3 Babar Azam (4 runs) and world number 1 Mohammad Rizwan (14 runs) got out cheaply, this exposing the Pakistan’s middle order yet another time. Iftikhar was dismissed by Jongwe for 5 runs. Pakistan lost three wickets for just 36 runs.

Handy Partnership to brings Pakistan back in game. Shan Masood and Shadab Khan (17 runs) made a good partnership of 52 runs to bring Pakistan back in the game.

Sikandar Shines For Zimbabwe

Pakistan was heading towards the win, but Sikandar Raza had different plans. He breached Shadab Khan and Haider Ali (0 runs) in two consecutive balls to put Zimbabwe in the driving seat. He in his second over dismissed set batsman Masood for 44 runs. 3 runs were required off the last ball, but the likes of Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mohammad Nawaz failed to finish the game for Pakistan.

Tough Qualification Scenario for Pak– Pakistan have now lost two matches in a row and are sitting at the bottom of the table. Pakistan have pray for India’s victory against South Africa and also win the remaining games with good net run rate.
