First Innings
Scotland captain Richie Berrington won the toss and elected to bat first against Ireland. Scotland got off the rough start and George Munsey got dismissed for just one run in the very second over. Michael Jones then shared 59 runs for the second wicket with Matthew Cross (28 runs in 21 balls) and 77 runs for the third wicket with skipper Richie Berrington (37 runs in 27 balls with 5 fours).
Jones takes Scotland to a respectable total
Jones scored 86 runs in 55 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. This is also the highest individual innings player by an associate team in a T20 World Cup. Scotland posted a competitive total of 176 runs on the board. Curtis Campher and Mark Adair bowled brilliantly for Ireland.
Second Innings
Chasing the target, Ireland did not start very well and both the openers Paul Stirling (8 runs in 10 balls) and captain Andrew Balbirnie (14 runs in 12 balls) returned to the pavilion within first 5 overs. Lorcan Tucker was dismissed by Mark Watt for 20 runs and Harry Tector by Leask for 14 runs in two consecutive overs, thus making the chase difficult for Ireland.
