Team India Preview: Team India Looking To End World Cup Drought? Are they the favourites?
Team India Preview: The T20 World Cup is the prestigious competition organised by International Cricket Council. The first-ever T20 World Cup was played in the year 2007, India became the inaugural season champion in the shortest format of the game. Since then, India is yet to claim their second T20 World Cup title. This year, team India would be aiming to win the World Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Like 2021, India is one of the tournament favourites.
Indian Team may not have performed well in the Asia Cup, but they have defeated strong Australian side by 2-1 and then South Africa in a T20I series. India will play against their arch rival Pakistan in the first game of the T20 World Cup 2022.
India’s squad this year will be led by Rohit Sharma. He will open along with vice-captain KL Rahul. Virat Kohli will bat at number 3. These three players have enough of experience playing in Australia. Suryakumar Yadav is going to be an X-factor for Team India in the T20 World Cup. He has been in tremendous form in the shortest format of the game.
Hardik Pandya have performed extremely well in the IPL and last T20 series he played, his consistency with the bat and ball will be of great help. Deepak , Risbah Pant and Dinesh Karthik can take up the finisher role and it would be interesting to see who will make the cut.
India’s Bowling Performance
Indian bowling department is going to be the weakness for India in the World Cup. The bowling looks very weak without the services of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. Ravi Ashwin is a reliable match winner along side Yuzi Chahal and Axar Patel. Except Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the other two fast bowlers, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel will be visiting Australia for the first time. Though both the bowlers are spending hours in the nets to become familiar with Australia pitches and conditions. Mohammed Shami is going to be the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah.
