Former Sri Lanka Team batsman Mahela Jayawardene hold the record for scoring the highest runs in T20 World Cup. He has played in 5 T20 World Cup from the year 2007 to 2014. In 31 matches, Jayawardene has scored 1016 runs with an average of 39.07. He is also the first player for Sri Lanka to score hundred in T20 World Cup (100 runs against West Indies in 2010 T20 World Cup). Apart from a century, he also have 6 half centuries under his name .
Chris Gayle
