Former Sri Lanka Team batsman Mahela Jayawardene hold the record for scoring the highest runs in T20 World Cup. He has played in 5 T20 World Cup from the year 2007 to 2014. In 31 matches, Jayawardene has scored 1016 runs with an average of 39.07. He is also the first player for Sri Lanka to score hundred in T20 World Cup (100 runs against West Indies in 2010 T20 World Cup). Apart from a century, he also have 6 half centuries under his name .

Chris Gayle

Universe Boss Chris Gayle is the second on the list with 965 runs in 33 matches at an average of 34.46. Gayle has an splendid strike rate of 142.75, highest among the top 5 run scorers in the history of T20 World Cup. He also holds the record for scoring two centuries and hitting the maximum sixes (63) in the T20 World Cup.

TM Dilshan

Indian team batsman Virat Kohli is considered as one of the best batsman in the world. He is the first highest scorer in the T20 World Cup history with 845 runs in 21 matches at an impressive average of 76.81 (highest among the top 10 batsman) and strike rate of 129.60.
