TRT vs LNS: Match 20 of the Hundred Men’s Competition 2022 saw the Trent Rockets take on the London Spirit at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. A solid performance saw the Rockets defeat Spirit comprehensively to register their fifth win of the competition.

London Spirit were asked to bat first by the Trent Rockets. They didn’t have the best of starts as they lost Adam Rossington early in the innings. Daniel Bell-Drummond along with Ben McDermott steadied the ship before the former departed on 24. McDermott looked good at the crease and he received support from his skipper Eoin Morgan.

Morgan departed on 27 on the 64th ball. It led to a collapse as the other batters failed to adapt to the conditions and contribute. McDermott tried hard and scored 30 but his departure meant that they were bundled out on 122. Rashid Khan finished with figures of 3/25 for the Rockets. Luke Wood, Sam Cook, and Samit Patel also picked up two wickets apiece as they didn’t allow the Spirit to play their full quota of 100 balls.

The Rockets got off to the worst possible start, losing Dawid Malan on the very first ball of the chase. In-form Alex Hales also departed on six on the 17th ball. Colin Munro and Tom Kohler-Cadmore joined hands and started the recovery work. They kept the scoreboard ticking and kept the required run rate under control.

Munro brought up his fifty in no time. Kohler-Cadmore fell on 41 but not before laying a solid foundation for his side to chase down the total. Munro remained unbeaten on 67 of just 37 balls to take his side across the line with 22 balls to spare. Daniel Lawrence, Chris Wood, and Nathan Ellis picked up a wicket each but they failed to defend the total as they lost the game by six wickets.
