Southern Brave stay alive in The Hundred 2022: Southern Brave locked horns against Trent Rockets in the 25th match of the Hundred Men’s Competition 2022. The Rose Bowl in Southampton hosted this close-fought contest where Brave came out on top to stay alive in the competition.
James Vince, Southern Brave skipper James Vince won the toss and elected to field first. The Trent Rockets got off to a solid start, thanks to Dawid Malan. He played some beautiful strokes and scored at a brisk rate.
Malan brought up his fifty but lacked support from the other end. Samit Patel looked good for his 21. Malan was departed on 59 and the Rockets lost their way a bit after his dismissal. They managed to score only 138 at the end of their 100 balls. Michael Hogan and James Fuller picked up two wickets apiece for Brave.
Brave got off to a shaky start, losing Paul Stirling and James Vince on duck. Quinton de Kock along with Alex Davies led the recovery work. Both kept the required run rate under control and started building a solid partnership.
Davies brought up his half-century and was well-supported by Ross Whiteley and Time David. Davies remained unbeaten on 51 as they chased down the total with five balls to spare. Sam Cook picked up two wickets with the ball for the Rockets but it wasn’t enough as they lost the game by six wickets.

Southern Brave needed a win to stay alive in the competition. They stepped up and put in a solid performance to keep their hopes of defending the title alive. They will have to win their last game comprehensively to finish in the top three if the other results go their way.
Trent Rockets missed a chance to go to the top of the table. They have 10 points to their name, with five wins in a total of seven games. They sit below table-toppers London Spirit and will hope to win their last game and finish in the top three to qualify for the knockout stages of the Hundred 2022.

Alex Davies was named the player of the match for his match-winning knock of 51* off 43 balls.
Will go down as one of my best innings. Ross and Tim helped him. I am wearing this medal but they did it for us. The hallmark of this team is that we will fight till the end.
