Trent Rockets seal a berth in the finals after a convincing win over Welsh Fire

Trent Rockets seal a berth on Match 29 of the Hundred Men’s 2022 saw Trent Rockets square off against Welsh Fire. Here is the match report.
Trent Rockets seal a berth in the Final
Trent Rockets seal a Berth: Trent Rockets ensured a place in the knockout stages of the competition after they defeated Welsh Fire in the 29th match of the Hundred Men’s Competition 2022. This game was played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
Welsh Fire skipper Josh Cobb won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision backfired as Trent Rockets got off to a fantastic start. Dawid Malan and Alex Hales, opening the batting for the Rockets, took on the bowlers from the word go. They put 89 between them before Hales departed on 38. But there was no stopping Malan at the other end as he brought up his fifty.
Matthew Critchley dismissed Malan on 58 but his innings had laid a platform for the Rockets to finish on a high. Cameos from Daniel Sams (31 off 14 balls) and Colin Munro (22* off11 balls) powered them to 172 at the end of their 100 balls. The Fire bowlers struggled and only managed to pick four wickets.
Fire didn’t have the best of starts to the chase. Joe Clarke and Tom Banton departed on 15 and 9 respectively. Ben Duckett along with Matthew Critchley led the recovery work for the visitors.
Critchley played a good hand of 55* from one end but lacked support from the other end. Fire eventually were restricted to 143/6 at the end of their 100 balls, falling short by 29 runs. Sam Cook, Samit Patel, and Tabraiz Shamsi picked up two wickets apiece for the Rockets.
Welsh Fire fail to register a single win in the Hundred 2022
Welsh Fire’s miserable season came to an end and they failed to win a single game in this year’s competition. They played eight league games and lost all. Nothing went right for them and will hope to put in a much-improved performance in the next edition of the Hundred.
Trent Rockets, meanwhile, ensure a berth in the finals of the Hundred 2022. They have won six of their eight league games and finish with 12 points to their name. They will look to carry forward the winning momentum in the finals of the competition.
Player of the Match

Got a couple away early. Wicket sort of slowed down, so was lucky to get a couple away early. Looking fantastic to qualify. Got a good bunch of guys, similar squad to last year.
