Wayne Parnell helps Northern Superchargers: Northern Superchargers took on Southern Brave in the 31st match of the league stages of the Hundred Men’s Competition 2022. Headingley in Leeds hosted this encounter where the Superchargers beat Brave to finish the season on a high.

Contributions from the middle order of the Superchargers helped them post 135 on the board. Harry Brook top-scored with 29 for them and Adam Lyth (20) and David Willey (22) were the other contributors with the bat. Parnell’s knock of 14* helped them get to a respectable total.

The defending champions bowled beautifully and picked up eight wickets. Rehan Ahmed, James Fuller, and Sonny Baker picked up two wickets apiece as they had a very good first half of the encounter.

Things didn’t go as planned for them in the second half as they lost both their openers early in the innings. The batters failed to step up as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Rehan Ahmed led the fightback for them along with James Fuller.

Ahmed departed on 33 and Fuller’s dismissal on 25 meant that they fell behind the required run rate. They eventually finished their innings on 119/9, losing the game by 16 runs. Wayne Parnell for Superchargers bowled brilliantly and finished with figures of 4/16 in his four sets.

Both Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave had already been knocked out of the Hundred 2022. Both failed to live up to their fans’ expectations. The Superchargers finished the season at the sixth position with four wins and as many losses.

Southern Brave were the defending champions but failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament. They lost a total of five games and finished at the seventh position in the points table. They will look to come out with a much-improved performance in the next edition of The Hundred.

Player of the Match

Wayne Parnell helps Northern Superchargers: Wayne Parnell was adjudged the player of the match for his excellent bowling figures of 4/16 in his 20 balls, which included 12 dots.

Probably 20-30 under par, but with a good bowling lineup we were backing ourselves. Have enjoyed it. Watching it back home last year was special and wanted to be a part.

Fantastic to defend that score. We thought it wasn’t enough. But no one could time the ball. Well bowled to him (Parnell). Some really good skills, some really good yorkers. Difficult to get to that top three. I think of two dropped catches in those games and it cost us. Crowds have been amazing. What we could do as players is give 10 minutes at the end to sign autographs.
