BCCI hint at India’s playing XI: Team India will commence their campaign in the Asia Cup 2022 with a battle against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. The much-hyped game of cricket will be played on August 28, Sunday. There are a lot of speculations regarding India’s playing XI for the Sunday match.

The Men in Blue haven’t played their full strength in the shortest format of the game since the white-ball series against England last month. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, and Yuzvendra Chahal gave the T20I series against West Indies a miss. Meanwhile, all the senior players apart from KL Rahul were rested for the Zimbabwe tour.

While India’s top-order and middle-order are almost confirmed, there is confusion regarding the bowlers. With the Pakistan game in line, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) caused a furor on Twitter. On Friday, the Indian board shared a series of photos on their official Twitter handle.

Dinesh Karthik to be included in India’s playing XI for Asia Cup 2022?

BCCI hint at India’s Batting: The photos were from India’s practice session. However, what caught the attention of the cricket fans was that BCCI posted exactly 10 photos, and that too, as per India’s batting line-up. The first featured the likes of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh were the players in the other nine photographs.

The Twitterati didn’t take much time to put two and two together. It is speculated that the cricketing body has hinted at India’s playing XI for the first Asia Cup 2022 match. India might go with the same set of batters in their top six. However, the position of Dinesh Karthik is debatable, as India would like to play with at least two spinners.

No Ravi Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja?

BCCI hint at India’s Spin Bowlers: The pictures suggested only one spinner in the team, Yuzvendra Chahal, as BCCI missed both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin. This is hard to digest, as the United Arab Emirates is known for producing spin-friendly pitches. Meanwhile, the pace department looks fine with the presence of Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh.

India will be missing the services of its two main seamers, including the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. Both the players have been ruled out due to injuries. With no official announcement from the skipper Rohit Sharma or the BCCI, we will have to wait for Sunday to get a confirmation on the final XI for the Asia Cup 2022.
