The WPL’s debut season is set to begin on Saturday, March 4. The Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai will host the first game between the Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians.

Together with GG and MI, the other three teams in the competition are UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals.

The league stage will consist of 20 matches, followed by the Eliminator on March 24. The final will be held on Sunday, March 26 at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.

The auction for the competition was held earlier this month, and Indian top-order batsman Smriti Mandhana became the most expensive player. Ashleigh Gardner from Australia and Nat Sciver-Brunt from England both received good offers.
