While Bengaluru might not have clinched as many trophies as Mumbai and Chennai, it enjoys unwavering support from its fans. However, it’s Mumbai and Chennai that have dominated the IPL with five trophies each, earning millions of fans across the country.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), based in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, has managed to amass a significant fan base even in the northern states. One such ardent fan was Indian cricketer Kuldeep Yadav. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Yadav confessed his unwavering support for CSK since the inception of the IPL in 2008.
Yadav reminisced about the early days of IPL, stating, “I was a huge fan of CSK when the IPL started. I was an ardent fan of CSK as it was a good team with MS Dhoni, Matthew Hayden, etc.”
The presence of legendary players like MS Dhoni, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Matthew Hayden made CSK an irresistible choice for cricket enthusiasts, especially young players like Yadav.
Even after his career took off and he found himself playing for the Mumbai team, Yadav’s loyalty to CSK never wavered. “I am still a fan of Chennai. Playing for a different team doesn’t mean it will change. If someone asked me about my favorite IPL team during those days as a young player, it would be CSK,” Yadav affirmed.
Kuldeep Yadav’s journey from being a fan of CSK to representing Mumbai and then making a mark on the international stage is nothing short of inspirational. He was selected for the Mumbai team in 2012 after his performance at the Under-19 level. However, even after donning the Mumbai jersey, his admiration for CSK and its legendary captain MS Dhoni remained intact.
Yadav has often credited MS Dhoni for his growth as a cricketer. “MS Dhoni was the main reason for my excellence for India at the international level,” Yadav emphasized.
Today, Kuldeep Yadav is not just a talented cricketer but also an inspiration for many aspiring young players. His journey from being a fan to becoming an integral part of Indian cricket history exemplifies dedication, talent, and unwavering loyalty.
