In a thrilling encounter at the IPL 2024 T20 cricket series, Bengaluru emerged victorious against Hyderabad, marking their second win after a series of defeats. The match, held in Hyderabad on April 25, saw Bengaluru securing a 35-run victory over the formidable Hyderabad team.

Opting to bat first, Bengaluru put up a commanding total of 206/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Rajat Patidar played a crucial role in setting up this challenging target, scoring a blistering 50 runs off just 20 balls. His aggressive innings, which included 2 fours and 5 sixes, set the tone for Bengaluru’s innings. Captain Virat Kohli also contributed significantly with 51 runs to his name.

Hyderabad, in response, struggled to keep up with the required run rate, managing to score only 171/8 in their 20 overs. Despite efforts from Sabash Ahmed (40*) and captain Bud Cummins (31), the Hyderabad batsmen failed to capitalize on their starts. Bengaluru’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Karan Sharma, Cameron Green, and Swapnil Singh each picking up 2 wickets to restrict Hyderabad’s innings.

Reflecting on his performance, Rajat Patidar, who was awarded the Man of the Match, attributed his success to his focus on controlling what he could. “I just kept my mind on things to control what I could control. I’m trying to keep doing what I’ve been doing for a long time. My mentality and batting technique are important,” said Patidar.

Patidar emphasized the importance of maintaining a disciplined approach to his game, stating, “Every time I make a mistake, I go home and take exercises to correct it and improve. Today I got the form to hit every bowler I faced, including the spinners.”

Bengaluru’s victory over Hyderabad is particularly significant as it marks the first defeat for Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 season. Despite facing a strong opponent, Bengaluru’s comprehensive performance with both bat and ball ensured they emerged victorious, giving them a much-needed boost in the tournament.
