In a thrilling encounter at Chepauk yesterday, the Punjab Kings showcased their prowess, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory against the Chennai Super Kings. Winning the toss, the Punjab Kings opted to bowl first, a decision that set the tone for an outstanding performance.
Chennai Super Kings managed to accumulate 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite notable contributions from Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 62 runs, and Ajinkya Rahane, who added 29 runs, Punjab’s bowlers dominated the game. Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar were the standout performers, each claiming two crucial wickets for their team.
The chase began with Punjab Kings needing 163 runs for victory. They achieved the target comfortably, reaching 163 for the loss of 3 wickets in just 17.5 overs. Jonny Bairstow’s impressive knock of 46 runs and Rassie van der Dussen 43 runs ensured Punjab victory.

The captain singled out Rahul Chahar for special praise, mentioning his confident bowling performance. “Especially because Rahul Chahar bowled with such confidence that I made him bowl the 19th over against Dhoni. He used it well and bowled the over brilliantly,” Curran said.
